Too Many Video Games?

October 23rd, 2006

I never thought I’d reach a time when I’d have too many games to play/finish. Nor did I ever expect to look at a list of released games coming up and think, “I’m doomed.” Then I saw this. I saw that and noticed I had two games on the list. Now both are fairly short, but I’m also stacking up RPG’s, which is never a good sign. With Children of Mana coming out next week, and Final Fantasy 3 shortly after that, I’m definitely going to be in for it.

Hmm…I’m definitely seeing the holidays as a good chance to catch up on my DS gaming. Yeah, the 360 is going to have to be staying home.

Big Video Game Update

September 19th, 2006

So a lot of video game stuff to talk about so we’re gonna do it all at once.

First things, I picked up Mega Man ZX for the DS last week. So far, I’ve only been playing it for a couple of days (I’ve reserved it to mainly commute playing), but I really like it. I haven’t played a Mega Man game in a long time, but I definitely like the feel of this one.

Second up, I’m about 40% of the way through Enchanged Arms and I am really enjoying the game. It’s definitely a good RPG with which to get back into the genre, although the writing, as many reviews have stated, leaves a bit to be desired. Overall, it’s a really good game. I think a lot of the reviews don’t do it justice, but that’s just my opinion.

I’ve also been playing a lot of NCAA Football 2007; especially when Dan comes over. It is lacking a bit of polish, but it’s solid and really good for the first version on the XBox 360.

Finally, the big one, I’ve already pre-ordered a Nintendo Wii last week. A buddy of mine saw that Amazon was taking pre-orders and I jumped all over it. Apparently I got in at a good time, because Amazon sold out of their pre-orders in a day. Hopefully I’ll get one on the first day, but we’ll have to say.

So yeah, a lot of video game playing, which is funny given the amount of time I’ve spent also getting fit. Guess I just have good balance.

So many games, so little time.

August 31st, 2006

I never thought I would say this, but I may have too many games. Or at least, too many games that I haven’t finished. So what’s the current rundown?

Dead Rising
Killing zombies for fun and profit? This game is really really well done. I have been enjoying it, but it’s not the kind of game I can sit and play mindlessly. I’m moving through it, but I seem to do it in spurts. I definitely plan finishing this one up at least once (it’s made to be played through a bunch of times), but I doubt it will happen before the end of the year. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just different. (I tend to play through games till I finish)

N3: Ninety-Nine Nights
It’s like the game Dynasty Warriors. In fact, it might as well be that game. They put thousands of enemies on the screen and allow you to just fell them. It’s mindless, it’s just button mashing, and I literally spent most of last weekend playing it happily. A lot of people have gone on about how it’s game play isn’t good enough, but for my company store price and the amount of relaxation it has brought me, it was worth it. Of course, I’m currently stuck at a part and I have a bit to go, but at least I’m closer to finishing.

So for those playing along at home, that’s two unfinished games.

Enchanted Arms
So just when I think it’s just some action games to get through…an rpg. And a Japanese one at that. I just picked this up but haven’t been able to start it yet. But it should be pretty good, and substantial in length. Not much to say as of yet, as I haven’t started this journey.

So that’s three games for the 360 I’m going to be having to complete. Thankfully there’s a lot of game, since it looks like there isn’t going to be anything coming out in the next month I’m too excited for.

As for my DS, well, it’s been sitting pretty idle these past couple of weeks. I picked up Trauma Center, but it’s not a particularly good for the T so I have really only played it when traveling to St. Louis. Other than that, I’m kind of waiting for some games to finally be released state-side to jump on. It also seems that a lot of the DS games I’m waiting on are all coming out in October. Looks like the month of my birth will be fun.

Why I will be taking the T:

July 16th, 2006

So this is why I will continue to wake up butt-early to get to work. Simply put, the amount of video gaming I want to do in the next year requires that I find time to play all of my ds games that won’t conflict with my XBox 360 (and eventually Wii) time. (Plus there’s that whole girlfriend, friends, and family thing) See that list? It’s huge.

And the best part?

The announced RPG’s. Seriously. I’m going to be playing RPG’s on the train possibly through the entire release of the next version of Office (not 2007). Square, Nameco, hell, even Konami is making an RPG for the thing. Plus there are rumors that Earthbound will be coming to the DS; which is awesome because I didn’t play it when it was on the SNES. Oh man. Oh man.

Hello, my name is Stan. I’m a DS fanboy.
