PTF: This shirt used to fit differently

December 6th, 2006

As the title implies, my cloths have started to have a different feeling. It’s actually kind of fun. I put on cloths and think, this didn’t use to be like this. Sweet.

So yeah working out has been good for me. I’m looking better; feeling better and generally just enjoying the sensation of working out. But yeah, it’s been five good months of working out, and I’m not stopping.

Ow…I forgot about this part

October 31st, 2006

So remember when I said I was looking to get back into martial arts? Well, I had my first Kung Fu class last night. And all in all, things went well. I enjoyed the class and I got a good workout. And I didn’t feel to sore afterwards.

Then I woke up this morning. Oy, I am sore. I’m more sore in one hour of Kung Fu than I was after a full day of marching with the band. I actually didn’t go full out with my workout today. I just did some light riding on a stationary bike with some moderate stretching.

So yeah, Kung Fu was fun. I’m going to give it a couple more weeks before I commit, but for now, it’s fun. And it’s a seriously good workout.

As a side note, while walking towards the T from the dojo (I need to look up the chinese word for training hall), I ran into my uddy Rob Anderson, which was pretty cool. We grabbed dinner and caught up. So yeah, pretty fun overall. I just need to be less sore.

PTF: Status Update

October 30th, 2006

So it would seem that my Path to Fitness posts have kind of dried up. Which, if I hadn’t gotten myself into a pretty steady workout routine, would have defeated there intended purpose. But yeah, I’m fully into a workout habit.

So have I seen any progress? Yes and no. As I said earlier, I’m definitely feeling the effects. I’m clearly in better shape than I was when I started back in July. I’m sore less often. My joints all hurt less. And I generally feel better.

At the same time, I still don’t look the way I want to. I’m getting there, and I can see the beginings, but I’m still not as cut as I’d like to be. *shrugs*

At least there is progress, so I can’t complain too much. :)

I Know ::insert Martial Art here::

October 9th, 2006

So, I buddy of mine just started taking Aikido, and in researching the subject, I think I want to take up martial arts again. Right now, I’m in the early stages of the decision. Mainly seeing if I can find a martial art that I really want to get into.

Right now, I know that I really don’t want to do Tae Kwon Do. I’ve been there, done that, and I’m not really interested in spending my day training for tournaments. I’m also really not that into sparring. I do like forms (both empty handed and weapons), however. Right now, I’m looking at either Aikido or Kung Fu. Both are something that I have found in Boston, and both are T accessible.

So I have a question, what do people think? Any suggestions will be gladly appreciated.

This is new…

October 5th, 2006

So I had to miss my workout today because of some stupid happenings at the office. And it has really messed up my day. It’s one thing to miss my workout because I’m sick, it’s another because of dumb stuff at work. I never thought I’d get to the point where missing a workout could seriously upset my day. Crazy huh?
