This sums up a lot of how I feel about the portrayal of Christians in TV, Media, and the Internet. Every time I see the idea of a Hell House, part of me aches. I have no problem with missonary work. I have no problems with preaching and wanting to reach as many people as possible. The Lord tells us to reach out to people.

But He doesn’t tell us to be hateful, elitist or insensitive. Faith gives us, as Christians, no right to feel superior to anyone else. At no point did Jesus say it is ok to be elitist; to be disrespectful of other people. Jesus preached love and tolerence, and it saddens me how much this can be forgotten.

I accepted Jesus Christ on November 9, 1991. I believe that he died for my sins, and I’m not afraid to admit that. I fully understand that the opinions and lifestyles of some of my friends go against my beliefs. But that does not mean I will treat them with anything but respect, dignity and compassion.

It’s not to say that the people who run these kind of depictions are bad people. They mean well, and have nothing but the best intentions. I just feel they are misguided in how they act upon them.

This quote from R.K.’s father sums up a lot:

Never confuse the faith with the supposedly faithful.
