Last Night In Ft. Somerville

May 28th, 2008

So tomorrow I’m leaving Boston. And when I return, it will be a very different place. Next time I’m in Boston, there will be no Ft. Somerville. That’s kind of a huge deal.

For those who don’t know, Ft. Somerville is the name of the Triple shared by my friends Erik and Eryck (along with their roommate Anderson). It’s located right in Porter Square, a minute from the T Stop; and it has served as a central hang out spot for my friends and me in Boston for almost three years. And in three months, it will be inhabited by very different people.

It just kind of hit me that I’m growing up. That my friends are really adults. Kratville has finished law school and is moving to NYC. Erik and Melissa have moved in together and are getting married in less than a year. Hell, some of my closest friends are having their 5th reunion starting…tomorrow. It’s all kind of crazy, when I think about it.

So tomorrow, I will walk down the stairway, head up Somerville Ave and take the T from the fort one last time. That’s actually kind of hard to swallow. I’ve had a lot of good memories here. I’ve had some bad ones (this is where I was invited to the night Nicole broke up with me). But a lot of my time in Boston was spent here. I’ve made great memories with great friends here.

And after tomorrow, I’ll never set foot in here again. Good-bye Ft. Somerville. Thanks for the memories.

Random Musings From Ft. Somerville

May 27th, 2008

Just some random tidbits that I need to write down:

  • Need to convert “office” into a music studio. It’s pretty clear I’m not going to be sitting down at a computer any time soon. Shoot, I don’t even sit at the desk. I really need to see about either putting it in my bedroom or just dismantling it. This was something I came to after seeing Sean’s (Celeste’s boyfriend) studio.
  • Along the lines of a a music studio, I clearly need to get a V-Drum kit and a decent bass amp. The cheap thing I got from Jenn just isn’t going to cut it. And I NEED to play more drums. Seriously, I NEED to.
  • Smash Brothers for the Wii actually is a fun worthwhile game. I need to buy Yorke’s extra copy and play through the damn thing. Yup, totally need to do that.
  • I’m watching Kratville play Portal, and the game is still brilliant. Also, Kratville isn’t so great at this game. Brad and I are highly amused.
  • I definitely miss living in Boston. Not going to be moving back any time soon, but I definitely miss it.
  • Also, I miss my car. I want to drive it. I think this means I bought a car that is right for me.

That’s all I have right now.

Clearly, I needed a vacation

May 23rd, 2008

Man, I forgot how good it can feel to just get away for a while. So I’m here chilling at Ft. Somerville and man, I just feel really relaxed. I think there really is something to be said about the need to escape the routine of normal life.

Not to mention I kind of just missed Boston and my friends here.

Now, I think I’m going to go get my chill on. Yeah, that’s definitely an appropriate course of action.

Sonofa!

May 20th, 2008

Apparently, I booked my tickets for after memorial day, instead of before. So I’m leaving in a week for the east coast. I guess it’s good. No, it’s sucks. Nothing like thinking you’ve got vacation and it turns out you dont. ;_;

EDIT:
I changed my plane ticket. I get one chance to live, and the money to change the money isn’t that much in the grand scheme. Very few people look back and said, “I should never have on that trip to see my friends.” So yeah. Fuck it. It’s on baby!

Go East, Young Man!

May 19th, 2008

Tomorrow night, I am heading back to Boston. Not to live, just to visit, but still. I want to say it’s been a while, but really, it’s only been a few months. I guess my life just keeps happening so much faster. Hell, I don’t even make the time to write in this blog anymore. And that is a shame. I find I miss writing everything in my life. Especially as much as I like to go back and read my old posts. But, more on that another time.

For now, it’s to Boston for me. Another week of working out of Boston, seeing friends and doing a bit of getting away. The 29th means I’ll be heading down to Princeton for Reunions. Has it really been a year? Seriously? That’s some crazy shit. I need to look back through the logs again.

I also need to write more. Seriously. Maybe I will. I doubt it. But you never know.
