This sums up a lot of how I feel about the portrayal of Christians in TV, Media, and the Internet. Every time I see the idea of a Hell House, part of me aches. I have no problem with missonary work. I have no problems with preaching and wanting to reach as many people as possible. The Lord tells us to reach out to people.
But He doesn’t tell us to be hateful, elitist or insensitive. Faith gives us, as Christians, no right to feel superior to anyone else. At no point did Jesus say it is ok to be elitist; to be disrespectful of other people. Jesus preached love and tolerence, and it saddens me how much this can be forgotten.
I accepted Jesus Christ on November 9, 1991. I believe that he died for my sins, and I’m not afraid to admit that. I fully understand that the opinions and lifestyles of some of my friends go against my beliefs. But that does not mean I will treat them with anything but respect, dignity and compassion.
It’s not to say that the people who run these kind of depictions are bad people. They mean well, and have nothing but the best intentions. I just feel they are misguided in how they act upon them.
This quote from R.K.’s father sums up a lot:
Never confuse the faith with the supposedly faithful.

Ok, so last week I was bemoaning the sudden influx of games coming up. And I know I was slightly worried about the high concentration of RPG’s. Well, things have changed. Some of the games have dropped off the radar, but new ones have sprung up. I figured I’d give some kind of update for the gamers who read this: Read more…

So I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but at some point, I started doing a lot of internet radio/shoutcast listening. Usually I’m listening to one of the stations on DI.fm; although I recently started branching out. I recently discovered a music station in Chicago that plays straight dance music (bit stretch, I know) all day, and right now, I’m listening to a Top 40 station. It’s pretty funny given that I have a whole crap-ton of MP3′s and yet I’ve gotten into listening to internet radio.
Although, it really isn’t that crazy. I mean, I have a lot of MP3′s, but I don’t have a lot in certain genres of music. There are genres of Electronica that I don’t have a lot of mp3′s in. And I am horrible at staying up with what is current in music. But having these options to listen to while in the office (and without static or commercials) is really really nice.
If you haven’t given it a try, I suggest it. There are a bunch of options in iTunes including the stuff from DI.fm (I suggest the Hardcore and Eurodance stations).
[Edit] Oh, and apparently they don’t have to censor internet radio. So yeah, they play the uncensored copies of songs on IR.

So remember when I said I was looking to get back into martial arts? Well, I had my first Kung Fu class last night. And all in all, things went well. I enjoyed the class and I got a good workout. And I didn’t feel to sore afterwards.
Then I woke up this morning. Oy, I am sore. I’m more sore in one hour of Kung Fu than I was after a full day of marching with the band. I actually didn’t go full out with my workout today. I just did some light riding on a stationary bike with some moderate stretching.
So yeah, Kung Fu was fun. I’m going to give it a couple more weeks before I commit, but for now, it’s fun. And it’s a seriously good workout.
As a side note, while walking towards the T from the dojo (I need to look up the chinese word for training hall), I ran into my uddy Rob Anderson, which was pretty cool. We grabbed dinner and caught up. So yeah, pretty fun overall. I just need to be less sore.
