“The Best Week Ever”

November 21st, 2005

Ok, so I’m finally ready to talk about last week. God, it was so good, it’s really a shame it’s over. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Thus, I must say good-bye to what can only be described as: “The Best Week Ever.”

Why was it the best week ever? Well, there are multiple reasons. So I feel it’s best to simply list them and describe their awesomeness.

  1. Being in Boston – I started the week off in Boston visiting Nicole. That about says it all. I had the chance to see where she lives, and I also got to see some good friends. So yeah, starting off like that was really awesome.
  2. Interview at Groove – On Monday, I had an interview with Groove Networks, a subsidiary of Microsoft. It’s an interview I’ve been trying to get since I first spoke to my new lead in September. So finally getting it, I felt really good to know that all the work and prayer was paying off. I had a chance to get what I really wanted.
  3. Finding Out About My XBox 360 – I found out that I was getting my XBox 360 on Tuesday (which is launch day). I had been wondering and hoping that I would be getting it when I first heard about the shortages. Finding out that I would be getting the console was awesome.
  4. Hearing Back From Groove – Finally hearing back about my job on Friday was AWESOME! I felt good about the interview, and I was told that it seemed it be going well, but getting final confirmation was wonderful. I had been working so hard to find the job, and then to get the interview…I just felt wonderful.
  5. 25-21 – OSU beating Michigan in football. As if the week couldn’t get ay better, the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines. It was a great game with a thrilling ending, and it capped my week perfectly.

So now I get to enjoy the coming week. I’m heading back to the east coast to see my family and Nicole. It’s going to be great. I’m also getting my XBox 360. Ahhh yes, life is good. Correction, really, really good.

Relocating

November 18th, 2005

It is with both sadness and joy (mainly joy) that I am announcing to the world my relocation to the Boston area. You heard me, I’m moving back to the east coast. No, I have not decided to leave Microsoft. In fact, quite the contrary. I will be joining the recently acquired MS subsidiary, Groove Networks, in Beverly, Massachusetts. Anyway, I just wanted to post something here now. There will be more later.

So I Jumped the Gun

November 18th, 2005

As it turns out. It was just an error. The actual store and the global alert system are not in sync. So I am getting my 360. Sweet.

I hate Retailers

November 18th, 2005

I was all set to talk about my five days in Boston. I was all set to talk about what a wonderful time I had, and how much I enjoyed the city of Boston/Cambridge. But I’m not going to do that. Nope, instead, I’m going to talk about the decline in customer service that I’ve witnessed.

What started all of this? My Xbox 360. That’s right, the game console I pre-ordered, paid for, and just thirty minutes ago, found out I wouldn’t be receiving. Yeah, I’m in the large number of people who won’t be picking up their 360s.

Now, I’m not pissed about not getting the system. Fine, I realize that stores over-sold what they could get. I realize that the game sellers sold to many systems online and had to cut back on how many to send to each store location. Fine. The stores are idiots. I’ll eventually get a 360, I work for Microsoft. Hell, I’ll still get the games and accessories from the Company Store on the first day in case I should get my 360 before Christmas.

What I AM pissed about is the fact that, on Wednesday, I walked into Gamestop and asked if I would be getting my 360 on launch day and was told I would. I was lied to. As almost anyone who’s ever met me will attest, I HATE being lied to. Especially by retail store clerks. God I hate this crap. They tell you anything to get you out of the store. Bah.

Oh well. I can justify getting a PS2 and Dragon Warrior 8. Awesome.

Nervousness to the Min/Max

November 14th, 2005

My nervousness is coming and going like the tide. At times, I'm perfectly confident, ready to go. Then, suddenly, BAM, back to being incredibly nervous. I really want to do well, tomorrow.

I've had such a good time this weekend. I think I would be really happy here. I just need the opportunity to get here. And that's what tomorrow is. And I'm so nervous.

Ok. Time for sleep. I need to be well rested for tomorrow. Wish me luck.
