Easter Away From Family

March 28th, 2005

So yesterday was my first Easter being away from any family. It was definetly a bit different. I had to do some things that I used to take for granted. And it was sad that I didn't get to be with family, but I still had a good easter.

The first part of Easter, as it should be, was going to church. After putting up a request to my friends on Zoji, I was given two choices for services to goto. I decided to go to the St. Andrews Lutheran Church. I found out about the church because my friend, Amanda, was playing french horn in the services. So I went to the 11:00 AM service and afterwards, Amanda and I had a nice brunch at the IHOP.

After getting back to the apartment, I decided to do what many people do on Easter Sunday afternoon. I napped. Heavily. It was fantastic. I got about two hours of sleep before the sounds of my roommates screaming woke me up. Apperently, I was missing one of the best games in NCAA Basketball tournament history. So I pulled myself out of the bed and watched the two overtime periods of the MSU vs. UK basketball game.

Once the game was done, Dan and I convinced H that he was coming with us to Thais's for dinner. After a lot of work, we got H off his rear and we headed to Belletown for Easter dinner.

Dinner was really good. Thais made halabut and all kinds of vegetables. There was bread and wine, and good friends, and it was great. It wasn't family, but it felt a bit like it. Which is good.

So Easter was good. I missed my family, but I was ok. I was able to spend it with people who are important to me, and that's what is really important.
