Whooooo! The past couple of days have been a lot of fun. Mixed with a decent amount of stress. I guess that’s what happens when HouseParties and the day of Computer Science independent work being due occurring back to back. *shrugs* I can say that both my boy, Milton and I had a fun weekend.
First, the sarcastic fun. My independent work final write-up was due yesterday. Basically, my independent work was a single semester research and development project. The goal was to create a working display wall presentation system in OpenGL (the current one is not so slick and while works, has moments of sucking hardcore). While the code had been finished for over a week, the actual write-up had to be done and that was not really something I was all that interested in doing.
So Sunday night, after having a good HouseParties weekend, I began writing. Let me tell you, when I want to, I can write like a man possessed. In the first night, I literally finished eight pages of single spaced write-up in a time of about four hours. I was actually impressed, especially since it was actually decent writing. Now, I probably should have started earlier, but since my code wasn’t done till last week, I’m not going to sweat it that much. So yeah, I continued to write (with a nice 6 hour rest in between) and finished writing at 3:00. At that point, my beautiful girlfriend, Nicole, went over my paper for mistakes and I was able to actually turn something in that wasn’t full of spelling errors. Post handing it in, I was pretty useless. All I remember from yesterday (I didn’t drink or anything) is playing video games. But since I had just turned in a lot of work, I didn’t care.
So now to the fun. This past weekend was HouseParties weekend, here at Princeton. Since I know that I have already explained HouseParties, I’m not going to do so again. Anyway…
This weekend, I most of my time with Nicole. Friday night, we went to the Campus Club for dinner and festivities, and had a pretty good time. The band was a kind of funk/rock band and was pretty solid. They weren’t too excited to be playing for the smaller crowd at campus, but they seemed to make do. I enjoyed the night, and I even enjoyed getting all dressed up (first time for everything). It was definitely, a great great night.
Saterday was also spent at Campus. We had a rather chill bbq which I thoroughly enjoyed. After the bbq, Nicole and I went to see Quipfire. After that we went to an arch sing. It was another very chill night. We spent our time being laid back and just kind of enjoying life.
In the vein of being chill, LawnParties Sunday was very chill. We started with champagne brunch at Charter and then went around to hear the bands. While the Collective, a really good hip-hop cover band, was at Campus, by the time we finished with breakfast, they were winding down. Next we just kind of wandered around till Mauroon 5 went on. Yeah, the Mauroon 5 concert itself was pretty poor. The drummer was hurt so they did a rather lame acoustic set. Nicole and I only stayed for like 30 minutes. *shrugs* After that it was more wandering, taking in a few bands before heading to Campus for dinner. After that, it was a nap on Nicole’s couch (I was exhausted) and then off to the room to work.
All in all, my senior year HouseParties was very chill. Which I’m very very happy about. Given how life has been, I was glad that things were chill. My life is going to be exciting enough as it is. I mean, with graduation and all. So this was definitely the best HouseParties I’ve experienced. It was genuine; both Nicole and I did what we wanted and when we got bored, we moved on. I think that’s why it was so wonderful. I wasn’t fighting to keep the weekend going. It just naturally flowed. *smiles* That’s how things like this should be.
In other news, I’d like to say congrats to Nicole for getting her car to go around the track on its own. Also, congrats to the guys at UM, especially David, graduating. Congrats to Matt G in LA for things going your way. And finally, congrats to all my CS people who finished their independent work. Alright, I’m out. Later.
